The Oil Reclamation and Production Services Green Process (ORPS)

ORPS OCEAN REMEDIATION PROCESS

ORGERS formerly known as ORPS OCEAN REMEDIATION PROCESS. The Oil Reclamation and Production Services.

ORGERS formerly known as ORPS OCEAN REMEDIATION PROCESS

ORPS OCEAN REMEDIATION PROCESS

ORPS has designed an economical, scalable and adaptable core processing system (CPS) that has the capability to remove oil contamination in any water medium. The ORPS environmentally friendly process is designed to separate crude oil from water in real time utilizing our proprietary chemical "Green", advanced sonic technology and high flow oil and water separators.

The "Green" chemical is water and oil soluble which allows it to move from the water phase into the oil phase working to break emulsions and actively destroy hazardous components in the oil. This reaction creates effluent water streams that contain no hazardous chemicals, allowing the water that is extracted from the oil to be returned to the body of water being treated.

Our sonic technology platforms utilize sonic and ultrasonic frequencies to allow the "Green" chemical to react in real time and reduce the surface tension of the oil and water which creates efficient oil and water separation.

With a flow rate of 375 gallons per minute at 75% capacity the high flow oil and water separators give the operator the ability to process large volumes of contaminated water. The separators offer extremely low power requirements, a small footprint and can be added in parallel to increase flow rates.

The design of the CPS system offers:

  • Reduction of operational costs due to lower manpower and energy requirements.
  • Flow rates that are greater than current industry standards that can be scaled to meet ANY flow rate requirement.
  • The recovery of volumes of crude oil in real time that is unseen in the industry.
  • The ability to return clean water to the contaminated body of water; preventing the need for water storage.
  • The crude oil recovered can be further processed into pipeline quality crude oil and be sold to create further revenue.

The ORPS remediation process is conducted as follows:

  1. The CPS system is mounted onboard a barge.
  2. Oil contaminated water is skimmed from the ocean using standard oil industry skimming equipment with achievable flow rates of higher then 500 gpm.
  3. The skimmer pumps the water into a blending tank where the biodegradable separation chemical "Green" is introduced and mixed with the oil and water.
  4. The oil, water and chemical are heated to 150-200 degrees F utilizing steam and a heat exchanger.
  5. The fluid is then pumped through a static mixer to ensure optimal integration of the Green chemical, water and oil.
  6. The fluid is exposed to a sonic shear which creates a low surface tension between the oil and water allowing them to begin to separate into distinct phases.
  7. The homogenized liquid is passed through a Cavitation Chamber where ultrasonic pressure waves cause acceleration in the chemical reaction destroying hazardous components and breaking the emulsion by eliminating the surface tension of the solid particles.
  8. Once the chemical has acted within the liquid, the mixture begins separating into two distinct water and hydrocarbon phases. The first 2 phase separator is optimized to separate large oil and water molecules.
  9. The second 2 phase separator incorporates a coalescer which forces any remaining amounts of oil left in the water phase to coalesce into larger droplet sizes. From the Coalescer, the oil/water mixture is passed through the 2 phase separator pulling the remaining oil out and producing clean water.
  10. The option exists to pass the remaining water through an oil absorption unit to ensure trace amounts of solids and oil are eliminated.
  11. The clean, processed water can then be returned to the body of water being remediated.
